San Antonio - Game 2 of
the Fall World Series turned out a lot like the first. After jumping out
to a 9-run lead after the 3rd, Team White chipped away and
came back to win with a Sac Fly in the bottom of the 9thoff
the bat of First-Year Catcher Kelly Woodruff.
The run capped off a huge
offensive day for both teams, with 4 home runs in the game and a
combined 27 runs in the 14-13 slugfest. Freshman Jonathan Hall and Kevin
Clements each homered on the day, along with former High School
teammates John Paillet and Nick Pappas. It was a tough day for the Tiger
pitching staff, in a game which combined for 10 different pitchers,
including 5 freshmen getting their first taste of live college action.
Kevin Francke and Matt Grimshaw each had a 3-6 day for their respective
teams.
With the win, Team White
takes a 2-0 lead in the series with Game 3 being played tonight at 6 pm
at E.M. Stevens Field at Trinity University. Noah Solomon (Grey) and
Josh Fink (White) will be matching up for tonight’s contest. |
