Trinity Celebrates St. Patrick's Day With Win Over Cardinal Stritch

San Antonio - Trinity's baseball team celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a 7-1 win over Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday night at E.M. Stevens Field.

Trinity (10-13) improved to 9-0 under Head Coach Tim Scannell on St. Patrick's Day, winning for the second straight year over Cardinal Stritch.

Noah Solomon sparked the Tigers with a dominating pitching performance, striking out a career-high 13 batters over eight innings, and giving up just one run on three hits overall.  He took a no-hitter into the fourth inning, and had a shutout through five complete innings.

The Tigers got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second, as Kevin Calbick's two-out double broke the scoreless tie.  Trinity scored twice more in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead, and ended up scoring in five consecutive innings.

Cardinal Stritch hit back-to-back doubles in the top of the sixth inning to break up Solomon's bid for a shutout, but the Tigers answered with two more runs to make it 7-1 after six complete.

Dylan Early hammered a pair of solo home runs for Trinity, which were his first two round-trippers of the season.  Early was 2-3 with two runs and two RBI, also drawing a walk in his first at-bat.

Stosh Hoover was 3-5 with two runs scored for the Tigers, hitting two doubles to tie for the team lead with nine so far this season.  Jeff Claydon finished 1-4 with two RBI for Trinity.

Jake Lark was 2-3 with a run scored for the Cardinal Stritch Wolves, who fall to 1-16 after the loss. 

Trinity isn't scheduled to play again until March 28 at Hendrix College, continuing Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.  The Tigers are looking to add games this weekend, possibly facing the University of Dallas on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
