Dr. Coleen Grissom delivered a no holds barred speech filled with sharp humor and good advice. |
At 4:30 p.m. on April 19th, a capacity crowd filled the Stieren Theater to hear Coleen Grissom, vice president for Student Affairs, deliver a last lecture. Titled, "Once More with Feeling, Y'all," the speech was initiated and sponsored by the Association of Residence Hall Students. In keeping with the country theme, inspired by Dr. Grissom's much talked about new country home in the Texas Hill Country, each member of the audience received a red bandanna to wear during the lecture. Dr. Grissom, also in the spirit, appeared in her denim overalls, straw sun hat, and carrying a pitchfork, indicative of her new life style. The speech was followed by a reception in the Ruth Taylor courtyard where well-wishers enjoyed chili, cornbread, and chocolate chip cookies, known to be among Dr. Grissom's culinary favorites.
Although retiring from the administration, Dr. Grissom will return to teach English at Trinity after a well-deserved year long sabbatical. |
President John Brazil was among the many who attended the lecture and reception honoring Dr. Grissom. |
Dr. Grissom kicks up her heels with the Trinity Ropers who provided entertainment for the reception following her "Once More with Feeling, Y'all" lecture. |
