Strategic Planning Facilitation
A strategic planning
facilitator helps a group of planners to customize their approach to
strategic planning and carry out that process to produce a relevant,
realistic and highly flexible strategic plan. As a facilitator, I use a
verity of techniques with the members of the group and the group as a whole.
These might include agenda design, group discussion, various ground rules,
methods of decision making, affinity charting, brainstorming, etc...
My job as a facilitator is
to work with the strategic planning team (board members, executive team,
physicians, nurses, etc...) to help them identify what they want to
accomplish together and the process that they want to use. Therefore, my
focus is primarily on the process, not the on the content, i.e., on how
the group members work together, not on what they produce together.

Focus Group Moderation
A focus group moderator is
a skilled interviewer that is capable of making group members comfortable
enough to freely express their thoughts and opinions. As a moderator, I am
careful top stimulate and direct group conversation yet not force my
particular ideas and beliefs on the participants.
There are different types
of focus groups that I can moderate: patients, patients and family members,
community members, physicians, nurses and other types of employees. I use a
variety of techniques to make sure that group members show up and provide
the feedback that the organization needs.
My latest client was the
Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio.
