These links provide
information, texts, and other resources related to the study of
ethics. Suggestions for
additions to this list that might be particularly helpful for

Reference Resources

for searching, and to locate subject specific bibliographies.

The Stanford
Encyclopedia of Philosophy
While still in early stages of construction, this is "the first dynamic
[philosophy] encyclopedia. Each entry is maintained and kept up to date by an
expert or group of experts in the field. Unlike static reference works which are
fixed on the printed page or on CD-ROM and which often become outdated soon
after they are published, this document constantly changes with the addition of
new entries and the modification of existing entries. Consequently, you can
expect the entries in this encyclopedia to be responsive to new research."
Databases
Use databases to find journal articles, magazines articles, and
newspaper articles on your topic. The following databases may be
particularly helpful for this course. When you find useful
keywords in your search, make note of these and use the same words
and combinations of words in other search situations.
Philosopher’s Index
Main index to scholarly publications; use the TOUR feature to find
full-text of articles listed in this index.

film, popular culture, and mass media. Many of the citations also contain links to the full
text of the article.

Journals
You are more likely to search a database
for articles on a topic than you are to browse the contents of
various journals. However, to keep abreast of recent discussions
related to topics in Philosophy and related to ethics in particular,
the following journals might be particularly useful. To access
the electronic full text for the journals below or to find 70 other
journals focused on ethics in various professional and academic
fields, use the

Internet Resources
Internet resources should be evaluated
before they are included in a scholarly project. Web resources are not
always helpful to students and scholars because
(1) website addresses and contents change, making it difficult for a
reader to verify or refer to the source;
(2) websites are difficult to evaluate, often due to missing
information related to authority, currency, and accuracy;
(3) and website authors do not always use materials with
consideration to copyright law.
The following sites have been evaluated and selected for use by your
Trinity librarian, but you should consult with your instructor
before using web resources in your projects or essays.
Ethics Updates
From the website: "Ethics Updates is designed primarily to be used
by ethics instructors and their students. It is intended to
provide updates on current literature, both popular and
professional, that relates to ethics." The organization of the
site's home page index is particularly helpful.
Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy: Ethics
Online encyclopedia entry for Ethics, including a general
bibliography.
Cite Your Sources:
This class requires you to cite your sources
using a standard citation style. For guidance in creating
citations in MLA, Chicago, APA, and Turabian, refer to the
library's pages for citing sources.
