Sell to established independent agents who have contracted to sell The Hartford's insurance products. Interact personally to develop strong business relationships through regular office visits and networking events.

What are the key skills, abilities, and personal qualities necessary to succeed in this type of work?  


1-3 years of experience in an underwriting, sales, operations or customer service role with an emphasis on sales; Proven ability to sell; Willingness to travel (60-80%); Ability to work independently; Strong desire to "win"; Good automation skills

What do you enjoy most about your current position?  

Ability to negotiate "win/win" deals to the mutual benefit of the customer as well as The Hartford; ability to work independently; opportunity to develop strong business relationships and ultimately friendships

Most important/valuable lesson or activity in college that impacted your career ?

ROTC - stretch yourself to your limits and you'll find you're limitless; Student Court - things are not always black and white, have the ability to look at situations from a variety of perspectives

What advice for someone entering this field?

Self discipline/management, and integrity are key. You may not see instant results but what you do today can significantly impact your future results.
