Briefly describe what you do

I partner with colleges and universities to recruit students to come work at Rackspace either as interns or full-time after graduation.  Hopefully both!

What other jobs have you had?

Recruiter, Harcourt Assessment, Inc.

What are the key skills, abilities, and personal qualities necessary to succeed in this type of work?

Interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills, project management skills, creativity, and drive.  The most important thing about recruiting is that you must have a desire to build and maintain relationships.

What do you enjoy most about your current position?

I love finding out interesting things about the candidates I talk to.  I learn something new every day from the experiences they share with me.

Most important/valuable lesson or activity in college that impacted your career ?

Life at Trinity is busy!  I learned to multi-task between heavy courseloads, campus activities, and my social life.  Gaining the ability to balance these things early on made the transition into recruiting (and work in general) a breeze.

What advice for someone entering this field?

Consider it as an option.  Recruiting is a lot of fun, extremely challenging, and can be pretty lucrative.Consider it as an option.  Recruiting is a lot of fun, extremely challenging, and can be pretty lucrative.
