Briefly describe what you do   

  • Art Instructor: I teach Art I and Art II, III, IV Photography to grades 9-12 at John Jay High School for the Northside Independent School District.

  •  I also work part time for the San Antonio Zoo. I teach programs about animals, nature and conservation

  • Manager on Duty for the Witte Museum.

  •  Assistant Equipment Manager at Trinity University.

  •  Waitress at Shoney's and Jim's restaurants.

What are the key skills, abilities, and personal qualities necessary to succeed in this type of work?  

A few key skills for succeeding in the field of Education are: Patience, flexibility, organization and passion. Having a passion for the subject matter that you teach as well having a strong desire to share this passion with others will make you a success

What advice for someone entering this field?

 

Education is a fun and rewarding field. Any field can be demanding but remember that teaching is great because it becomes easier and more rewarding each year as you are learning and gaining more experience.
