  • Understand what the client wants and present solutions according to his or her needs.

  • Be interested in other areas than your own. Acting fast and being able to recognize trends.

  • Like reading research reports and economic & foreign exchange outlooks.

What do you enjoy most about your current position?  

Talking to clients. Understanding their needs and requirements. Offering them advice and solutions.
Experiencing the trading floor environment close to other traders (Equities, Bonds & Commodities)

Most important/valuable lesson or activity in college that impacted your career  

Teamwork and projects. Understanding and accepting other opinions. Knowing how to be patient if things don't work out at once. Getting up and going even stronger when there is rejection of ideas or a setback.

What advice for someone entering this field?

 

In order to be good in this field you have to like to talk to people in person and over the phone. You have to be persistent and accept setbacks and disappointments. You have to like working under pressure and need to be able to trust your team members.
