Briefly describe
what you do |
I manage two
laboratories. I'm involved in teaching graduate students,
postdoctoral fellows as well as our research assistants. I
participate in all aspects of research from the hands-on working on
the lab bench to writing manuscripts. |

skills, abilities, and personal qualities necessary to succeed in this

Perseverance!
It's called research because the "re" part of research means you do it
over and over. One experiences a lot more failures than successes.
And sometimes those successes are not very significant. |

What do you enjoy
most about your current position? |
It is enjoyable
to witness a student that "sees the light". When what you are
teaching is finally comprehended. I enjoy teaching because I want the
student to become smarter than me. |

Take the time to
really learn from your undergraduate sciences courses. You do use
it. |
