Briefly describe what you do   

 

I am the administrator for the largest Allergy & Asthma practice in Texas. We have 14 locations and 22 providers. I am on the Board as the Administrator of the practice with seven physician owners. I have administrative responsibility over all clinics and our 185 employees.

What are the key skills, abilities, and personal qualities necessary to succeed in this type of work?  

Financial and clinic background. personnel management experience. Medical background to include terminology and contract negotiation experience. leadership abilities and good rapport with physicians.

What do you enjoy most about your current position?  

The level of knowledge of the physicians I work with and their reliance on me for the full admin of the practice.

Most important/valuable lesson or activity in college that impacted your career  

learning to make friends and cultivate relationships.

What advice for someone entering this field?

Be diligent and patient while continuing to gain education in the medical field thru seminars and others who have been in the field for a long time.
