Can I offer an unpaid internship?
Yes. You can choose to pay an intern an hourly wage, a stipend or not to pay at all. We recommend that whenever possible, it is best to pay interns. Sometimes however, we know that it is not possible. Many employers think if an internship is unpaid, the student must be receiving college credit for the experience. Certainly that can be the case, but receiving college credit for an internship is not necessary just because an internship is unpaid. Have questions regarding compensation and internships, contact Jerry Alexander,, Director of Career Services at 210/999-8321.
