Career Fair

Our career fair brings prospective employers to campus to meet with our students and alumni seeking to explore career opportunities.

The most important purpose of a career fair is networking.  The main goals of any attendee are: meeting recruiters and learning about the organizations they represent, finding out more about their educational or industrial area and asking questions about how one gets started in the application process.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for upcoming Career Fairs:

Know Your Objective
What organizations do you want to talk with?
What information do you need?
What is your message?

Do Some Preliminary Research
Use TigerJobs to find the listing of recruiters
Find out something about the organizations before you get there

Bring Your Resume -- but don’t force it on a recruiter who is not collecting them

Dress
As if you are serious about making a good first-impression on the recruiter
As if you want the recruiter to contact you for follow-up

Plan
Have some questions prepared
Collect business cards

Thank them for taking the time to recruit at Trinity

Follow-up
Always contact recruiters with whom you are interested within a short time after the event.

Final Thoughts

Career Fairs can be intimidating, yet very successful. Shake hands, smile and make eye contact. You should practice, practice, practice to project your “best” professional self. Always stay positive; don’t take rejection personally. And ultimately, have fun learning about yourself, jobs, companies, etc.
