options for job searching include NACELink, Vault, CareerTools, ArtSearch, and Discover. Links are to the left.
Internships are valuable in gaining professional experience and
contacts in your field of interest.
Along with consultation with
career services staff, our comprehensive
guide to internshipsand
our internship listings throughTigerJobs
are starting points for exploration.
We also
encourage you to view Internships Online, which
offers information about national internships in international affairs, history, human rights, sports,
women's rights, environmental organizations, congressional
internships, business, media, law and policy.
Students can find more internships through
other online databases listed on our Internship Resources page.

Networking
This is a
great concept that works, but scares a lot of people. Our guide on
the basic concepts of networking will help you get started. You can
download it
here.
Creating a Target List
This is
one of the most successful job search strategies, but also one that
takes a lot of time.
The best job to get is the one that hasn't been
posted yet, right? So, instead of just reacting to the market by
seeing jobs posted, take the time to research what industries,
companies or organizations interest you, regardless of whether they
are currently advertising any jobs.
You can use resources like the
Vault, Symplicity Guides, Job Choices Magazine and Book of Lists
(all available in Career Services), to develop your list of
employers who you like.
Network
and/or apply to these or similar positions.
You will
be better prepared to write your cover letter and be able to
genuinely speak about the employer in a way sure to get you noticed.
