Trinity Rebounds With Win Over Cal Lutheran

San Antonio - The 12th-ranked Trinity Tigers bounce back to defeat the California Lutheran Regals 20-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-17 Friday at the Trinity River City Classic in Sams Gym.

Trinity (4-1) was edged 3-2 by Our Lady of the Lake University in the opening match. The Tigers will take on UT-Dallas at 2 p.m. and Bridgewater at 6 p.m. Saturday.

In Friday’s match with the Regals, Tiger senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt led the game with 15 kills. Junior right-side player Tayler Mallory contributed 11.

Junior setter Caiti Troyer contributed 38 assists and a match-high 13 digs. First-year libero Meredith Erwin added 10 digs.

Junior defensive specialist Adriene Busch and senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood each fired up two service aces. Hazelwood and senior middle blocker Ginger Haley had four blocks each.

Trinity hit .282 and California Lutheran went .169. A key set for the Tiger was the second, as they hit .545 (12 kills, 0 errors, 22 total attacks).
