Trinity Opens SCAC With Sweep of Hendrix

San Antonio - The 14th-ranked Trinity Tigers opened the SCAC West- Central Tournament Friday with a 25-10, 25-8, 25-22 victory over the Hendrix College Warriors in Sams Gym.

Trinity (9-3, 1-0 SCAC) next meets Rhodes College at 6 p.m. today.

Tiger senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt led the match with 15 kills. Junior setter Caiti Troyer contributed 27  assists and nine digs. First-year libero Meredith Erwin was the digs leader with 10. Sophomore middle blocker Desie Baker blocked four shots. Troyer and senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood each fired up two aces.

Trinity hit .287 (34 kills, 9 errors, 87 total attacks) and Hendrix went .046 (24 kills, 20 errors, 87 total attacks).

Tomorrow, the Tigers will face Colorado College and Millsaps College to finish off the tournament.

Amy Mittelstaedt led the Tigers with 15 kills in the SCAC opener - a 3-0 win over Hendrix College on Friday afternoon
