- The 11th-ranked Trinity
Tigers ended the SCAC East-West Tournament with a five-set loss to the
No. 18 Southwestern Pirates Sunday at DePauw University.
Southwestern beat
Trinity 26-24, 21-25, 25-15, 22-25, 15-6 on the final day of
competition. The Tigers (14-5, 6-2 SCAC) lost 3-0 earlier in the day to
the host DePauw Tigers. Trinity finished with a 2-2 mark at the SCAC
event.
Trinity junior
setter Caiti Troyer chalked up 52 assists, 14 digs and two blocks.
Senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt was the kills leader with 14.
Mittelstaedt also had nine digs and two blocks. First-year libero
Meredith Erwin was the Tigers’ digs leader, with 22. Senior middle
blocker Aly Hazelwood amassed a team-leading five blocks. Hazelwood also
led with three aces, while adding 11 kills.
First-year outside
hitter Madison McMahon contributed 13 kills. Senior middle blocker
Ginger Haley had eight kills and three blocks, and junior right-side
player Tayler Malloy added seven kills and two blocks.
The Tigers will
host Our Lady of the Lake University at 6 p.m. Thursday in Sams Gym. |
