- The Trinity University Tigers volleyball team beat the Our Lady of
the Lake Saints 25-16, 32-30, 25-15 Thursday in Sams Gym.
Trinity, ranked 16th in the NCAA
Division III, improved to 15-5. Our Lady of the Lake, a member of the
NAIA, now stands at 7-7. The Saints edged the Tigers 3-2 on Sept. 4,
during the Trinity River City Classic.
Tiger first-year outside hitter
Madison McMahon hit .640 (18 kills, 2 errors, 25 total attempts. She
also contributed five digs and a block.
Senior middle blocker Aly
Hazelwood recorded a .368 hitting percentage (9 kills, 2 errors, 19
total attempts), along with one ace, two digs, and a block.
Junior setter Caiti Troyer
produced 42 assists and led the match in digs, with 11. Troyer also had
one kill and a block.
Sophomore middle blocker Maddy
Hazelwood was the team’s blocks leader, with two. Senior outside hitter
Amy Mittelstaedt added 14 kills, a service ace, and five digs. Junior
defensive specialist Adriene Busch fired in an ace and made five digs.
Junior outside hitter Alexis Edwards had nine digs.
Trinity hit .394 for the match,
including .692 in the third set. The Lake was limited to .186.
The Tigers will host
Texas-Brownsville at 6:00 p.m. next Wednesday. |
