- The 15th-ranked Trinity
Tigers finished 4-0 at the second Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference West-Central Tournament after a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 shutout
of the Austin College Kangaroos Sunday afternoon at Hendrix College.
Trinity, which
beat Birmingham-Southern 3-1 earlier in the day, improved to 19-6 and
9-2 SCAC. Austin College received votes in the latest top-25 Division
III poll.
Tiger senior
middle blocker Ginger Haley hit .412 in the match (9 kills, 2 errors, 17
total attacks). Senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt also had nine
kills, along with eight digs. First-year libero Meredith Erwin was the
digs leader, with 14, and junior outside hitter Alexis Edwards added 13.
Junior setter
Caiti Troyer registered 35 assists and nine digs. Senior middle blocker
Aly Hazelwood blocked seven shots, and fired up two aces. Junior
right-side player Tayler Malloy had four blocks.
Trinity travels to
Colorado Springs, Colo., for the second SCAC East-West Tournament. The
event will be held next Friday and Saturday at Colorado College. |
