Trinity Defeats Sewanee to Open SCAC Weekend

Colorado Springs, Colorado - Trinity's volleyball team, ranked 15th nationally, opened the second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference East-West Tournament with a 25-16, 25-10, 25-12 victory over Sewanee: University of the South Friday at Colorado College.

The Tigers improved to 20-6 and 7-2 in SCAC play. Trinity will take on DePauw, which received votes in the latest Division III poll, at 4 p.m. Mountain Time (5 p.m. Central) today.

Senior outside hitter Amy Mittelstaedt was the team’s kills leader, with nine. Mittelstaedt added 10 digs and three blocks. Junior setter Caiti Troyer accounted for 35 assists and 10 digs. Alexis Edwards, a junior outside hitter, led the Tigers with 16 digs.

Junior defensive specialist Adriene Busch made four of the Tigers’ six service aces, and sophomore middle blocker Maddy Hazelwood chalked up three blocks.

In addition to her team-high 9 kills, Trinity's Amy Mittelstaedt finished with 10 digs and 3 blocks in the team's win over Sewanee
