- The Trinity Tigers
volleyball team, ranked No. 17 in the nation, shut out the Texas
Lutheran University Bulldogs 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 Friday night in the
opening match of the Trinity Fall Classic in Sams Gym.
Trinity improved
to 22-8, and Texas Lutheran now stands at 16-7.
Tiger junior
setter Caiti Troyer registered 32 assists, and led Trinity in digs, with
17. Troyer also fired in a Trinity-best two service aces.
Senior outside
hitter Amy Mittelstaedt had 11 kills, eight digs and four blocks. Senior
middle blocker Ginger Haley chalked up seven blocks. Haley hit .500 (8
kills, 0 errors, 16 total attacks) in the match.
Aly Hazelwood, a
senior middle blocker, had seven kills, and four blocks, while hitting
.417 (7 kills, 2 errors, 12 total attacks). Sophomore right-side player
Catharine Found hit . 429 (6 kills, 0 errors, 14 total attacks), along
with accounting for four blocks. Junior defensive specialist Emily
Hilliard made 11 digs, and junior libero Alexis Edwards had 10.
Trinity takes on
Texas-Tyler at 10 a.m. Saturday, and Elmhurst at 2 p.m. |
