- The Trinity Tigers
volleyball team, ranked No. 17 in the nation, started Saturday with a
25-17, 25-16, 25-17 victory over the Texas-Tyler Patriots in the Trinity
Fall Classic in Sams Gym.
Trinity, 23-8 and
2-0 at the tournament, will take on Elmhurst at 2 p.m. today. The
Tigers hit .390 in the match and limited the Patriots to .025.
Junior right-side
player Tayler Malloy registered a match-high 13 kills and hit .722 (13
kills, 0 errors, 18 total attacks). Malloy also fired in a service ace.
Caiti Troyer, a
junior setter, accounted for 33 assists, six digs and two blocks. Junior
libero Alexis Edwards was the match digs leader, with 14. Senior middle
blocker Ginger Haley tied for the lead in blocks, with three. Haley also
hit .400 (5 kills, 1 error, 10 total attacks). Aly Hazelwood, a senior
middle blocker shared the lead with three blocks and hit .429 (8 kills,
2 errors, 14 total attacks).
Junior defensive
specialist Emily Hilliard had a service ace and six digs, while
sophomore eight-side player Catharine Found hit .300 (5 kills, 2 errors,
10 total attacks). |
