- The Trinity Tigers
concluded their Trinity Fall Classic Saturday with a tightly played
25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 28-30, 15-8 victory over the Elmhurst College Blue
Jays in Sams Gym.
Trinity, ranked
No. 17 in the nation, won the tournament with a 3-0 record, and now
stands at 24-8.
Tiger senior
middle blocker Ginger Haley was selected as the tournament MVP. Haley
hit .346 (13 kills, 4 errors, 26 total attacks) and registered five
blocks against Elmhurst.
Junior right-side
player Tayler Malloy was the kills leader, with 18, along with
accounting for 10 digs.
Junior setter
Caiti Troyer, selected for the All-Tournament Team, produced 55 assists
and seven digs.
Alexis Edwards, a
junior libero, and junior defensive specialist Emily Hilliard each had
18 digs. Senior middle blocker Aly Hazelwood had six blocks and 10
kills., while hitting .348 (10 kills, 2 errors, 23 total attacks).
Hazelwood and Hilliard each fired up four service aces. Senior outside
hitter Amy Mittelstaedt 12 kills and nine digs.
Trinity will host
the Trinity National Invitational next Friday and Saturday, bringing in
three of the top 10 teams in Division III. |
