- The 18th-ranked Trinity
Tiger volleyball team closed out its regular-season campaign with a
24-26, 25-12, 12-25, 25-16, 15-11 victory over the No. 8 Wittenberg
Tigers Saturday at the Trinity National Invitational in Sams Gym.
Trinity, which
went 1-2 at the tournament (third place) and is now 25-10 this season,
will defend its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title next
Friday and Saturday in Atlanta. At stake is an automatic bid to the NCAA
Division III playoffs.
Tiger senior
middle blocker Aly Hazelwood, playing in her final regular-season home
match, was selected for the All-Tournament Team. Hazelwood hit .417,
with 12 kills, two errors, and 24 total attacks in today’s win. She
recorded four blocks and moved to second all-time at Trinity in career
blocks. Hazelwood also led the team with three service aces.
Senior middle
blocker Ginger Haley registered a match-high seven blocks. Amy
Mittelstaedt, a senior outside hitter, had five blocks. Caiti Troyer, a
junior setter, finished with 35 assists and nine digs in the match.
Tayler Malloy, junior right-side player, led the match with 14 kills,
while making nine digs and three blocks. First-year outside hitter
Madison McMahon had 11 kills.
Junior defensive
specialist Emily Hilliard recorded a match-leading 21 digs, while junior
defensive specialist Alexis Edwards had 10 digs. |
