Saturday Morning Experience

Saturday Morning Experience is an enrichment program for gifted, talented, and creative young people in grades one through eight. Approximately 180 children participate in the program and work with thirty Trinity University Education undergraduates on projects emphasizing experiential, hands-on learning. The programs span and integrate the disciplines of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Fine Arts.

The principal objective of Saturday Morning Experience is to introduce its participants to a variety of experiences which enhance their intellectual and social development. The children benefit from working within small groups while also receiving individualized attention from their mentor. Programs reflect the interests of the mentors and children involved.

Students are selected to participate in Saturday Morning Experience on the basis of standardized test scores and an interview with the coordinators of the program. Their mentors are recommended from among the most outstanding Education students at Trinity University. The coordinators of the program make the final selection of the mentors.

Saturday Morning Experience sessions are held on alternating Saturdays beginning in September. Tuition is $150. A limited number of scholarships, awarded to children based upon recommendation by local school districts, are available through a grant from the George W. Brackenridge Foundation.
