Assist in the development of a vision and goal setting as they relate to the systematic implementation of The Basic School philosophy
Assist the leadership team with the creation of a staff development framework needed to support implementation of this renewal process
Create and produce materials to support the staff development needs
Provide periodic staff development to the campus on the principles of The Basic School
Maintain communication with the campus via phone, e-mail, or on-site visits
Network with other Basic Schools across the country in an effort to offer schools a variety of ideas and ways for implementation
Share experiences related to staff development, implementation, materials, and networks with fellow mentors
Serve as a leader/facilitator in the annual Basic School Strand Summer Institute
Maintain a "portfolio" for each school mentored, documenting school meetings, staff development, goals, curriculum development, overall progress implementing the four priorities of The Basic School (this will include a mentor evaluation for all staff development provided)
Participate as a member of a "presentation team" working with schools identified at the "investigating" or "committing" level in The Basic School process
Engage actively in building capacity as a learner and leader; i.e. participation in mentor training, staying abreast of current best practices and research, active role on your own campus with Basic School experiences, leadership roles, etc.
"In the Basic School, community begins with a shared vision. It is sustained by teachers who, as school leaders, bring inspiration and direction to the institution."
