Financial Aid for International Applicants

Trinity offers both need- and merit-based support to a number of its most highly qualified foreign applicants applying as First Years.  When reviewing international applications, Trinity takes into account whether or not an applicant has requested financial assistance.  Applying for financial aid places you in an extremely competitive applicant pool.  Trinity therefore advises you to apply for financial aid only if you do not have the resources to fund your education.  Automatic consideration is given to all foreign applicants for both merit- and need-based aid.  No special application is necessary.

Merit scholarships are based on the strength of the student’s academic profile as measured by the following criteria: rigor of and performance in secondary school coursework, standardized tests, strength of essay, involvement outside of the classroom, and recommendations from school officials.

Need-based financial aid is based on the demonstrated financial support of the student’s family.  Competition for this type of aid is keen.

US Citizens and Permanent residents applying to Trinity will also be automatically considered for merit-based awards.  Those US Citizens and Permanent Residents wishing to apply for need-based financial aid should submit the FAFSA.  More information is available on the Financial Aid section of this website.

International Transfer Applicants

Financial Aid is not available to foreign transfers, so Trinity does not accept transfer applications from foreign students who require financial aid.

Additional Information

-The 2005-06 International Student Supplement (Statement of Financial Support) is required for all foreign applicants and must be submitted with your application by the appropriate deadline.

-No other forms are required to be considered for either need- or merit-based financial aid.

-Financial aid awards will be given with an offer of admission to Trinity.
