EXPLORE TRINITY UNIVERSITY
Trinity University offers a setting where bright students flourish in a community dedicated to the highest standards of academic excellence and leadership. As a Trinity student, you will have uncommon opportunities for academic and personal growth and will be able to get into the thick of research, writing, and internships almost as soon as you arrive on campus. The University's tradition of civic engagement will make your success even more meaningful by tying it to the larger community.
Trinity's curriculum is rigorous enough to challenge and enhance your abilities, yet flexible enough to be tailored to your individual needs. We even have a program that will let you create your own second interdisciplinary major, with the help of an advisor. At Trinity you will learn to be a critical and creative thinker and a clear and persuasive communicator, preparing you for a lifetime of success in any endeavor.
Trinity professors care about teaching and take an active
interest in the goals and aspirations of their students. Our
better than 10:1 student–faculty ratio and small class sizes ensures
plenty of attention from our 228 full-time professors, 99% of
whom hold Ph.D.s. In fact, Trinity's faculty were educated at
some of the nation's finest graduate schools. These accomplished
writers, scholars, scientists, and artists are drawn here by the
caliber of our students, our exceptional research facilities, and
our strong campus community. Trinity professors teach all their
own courses and don't rely on student assistants to lead their
classes. Many even consider their students to be "junior
colleagues" since undergraduates often participate in faculty
research, or even conduct their own research with faculty mentors.
Many important learning experiences take place outside the
classroom, so at Trinity we take a holistic approach to
education. Our students have a variety of educational
opportunities beyond typical course work, including internships,
research projects, service learning, and study abroad programs.
Additionally, the city of San Antonio offers a myriad of cultural,
educational, and recreational opportunities. Nearly half of our
student body take an active role in the local community—a large
percentage of them sharing their time and talents through the
Trinity University Voluntary Action Center (TUVAC).
Whatever their interests, with more than
130 social, political, creative, and service organizations
on campus, Trinity students have plenty of outlets to create,
lead, and to play. We offer numerous activities including plays, concerts, films, and
lectures, and many high profile news makers have given speeches
here including former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, filmmaker
Michael Moore, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Over
65% of Trinity undergraduates participate in one of our athletic
programs, which include everything from intramural racquetball to
varsity soccer. We field some of the most competitive teams in
NCAA Division III athletics, and have won 82 conference titles
since 1992.
You can find all the comforts of home here too. Our spacious, modern residence halls are configured in two-room suites with a common bath, and most feature private balconies or outdoor walkways so you can enjoy our great weather. But one of the best things about Trinity's beautifully landscaped, 117-acre campus, is that it's in fabulous San Antonio, the nation's eighth largest city. Although the campus is set in a quiet residential neighborhood, it's still just minutes from downtown, the River Walk, the airport, museums, tons of shopping, restaurants, and golf courses. Our students can grab a bite of Tex-Mex at a nearby eatery, take in a Spurs game, hop aboard a barge down at the River Walk, and take advantage of all this great city has to offer. And let's not forget the surrounding Hill Country, which provides loads of opportunities for hiking, fishing, cycling, boating, and horseback riding.
If Trinity sounds like a place where you could learn, thrive, and grow as a person, then we encourage you to come take a look for yourself at our campus, talk to some students, maybe even attend a class, or spend a night in one of our residence halls. There's no better way to find out for sure if Trinity is the school for you. Just click on the Visit portion of this site for more information and to make arrangements.
