APPLICATION PROCESS
International applicants apply in the same manner as domestic applicants; they may choose to use and submit our free on line application, or download an application in PDF. Additionally, foreign applicants must submit the Statement of Financial Support which may be downloaded.
Application for Admission Process for International Students
- Submit application and supplement. Complete the common application form, including the supplement, and return it to the Office of Admissions. There is no fee for applications submitted on line, but a $50 processing fee is required if you mail a paper application.
- Submit transcripts. Ask the school that you are now attending (or have attended most recently) to mail a certified transcript and/or, if applicable, official examination results. If any course work has been completed at another university or institution of higher education, an official transcript or record of your college studies must also be sent.
- Submit all standardized test results. Submit test scores for either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or American College Test (ACT). The TOEFL examination is highly encouraged for all students whose native language is not English or who come from countries where English is not the primary language. We recommend minimum scores of 600 on the paper exam, 250 on the computer-based exam, and 100 on the internet-based exam. Those students whose native language is English must submit test results from the SAT I or ACT. Students are encouraged to submit any test results from their country's educational system.
- Submit school recommendation. Ask an advisor, counselor, or headmaster from the last educational institution you attended to complete the Secondary School Report and submit a letter of recommendation. This form is available on the "forms" link of www.commonapp.org.
- Submit teacher evaluation. Ask one of your instructors from an academic discipline to complete the Teacher Evaluation Form and submit a letter of recommendation. This form is available on the "forms" link of www.commonapp.org.
- Submit Statement of Financial Support.
You must document the source of funding to meet expenses of your education at Trinity for four years, including allowances for inflation. Starting with the 2008–2009 academic year the approximate expenses in US dollars, including travel costs, will be as follows:
1 year: $39,000
2 year: $41,000
3 year: $43,000
4 year: $45,000
Complete either Trinity's Statement of Financial Support or the College Board’s version of the Statement of Financial Support for foreign students and obtain the required certification or documentation from a bank official. The Office of Admission cannot consider your application until the Statement of Financial Support has been received. This form is required for the university to issue you the US Immigration and Naturalization Service I-20 form.
- Submit financial support additional documentation. Submit the required additional documentation from a bank official as indicated on the Statement of Financial Support. This bank statement should reflect the amount of money which the family is obligated to pay for the first year of study at Trinity (minus any scholarships/grants received by the university). The bank statement must be recent, drafted in English and the amount of resources must be stated in U.S. dollars.
Enrollment to Trinity Procedure for International Students
Upon acceptance to Trinity, complete the following if you choose to attend Trinity University. You should only submit a deposit to the single college or university in which you plan to enroll.
- Submit $500 Deposit. The $500 non-refundable deposit is required of all students who plan to enroll to Trinity. You can send a money order or check payable to Trinity University.
- Submit the International Admitted Student Reply Form. This, along with the $500 deposit, secures your enrollment to Trinity. Trinity will generate and mail an I-20 form to you upon receipt of the deposit and International Admitted Student Reply Form.
- Obtain F-1 Student Visa. Upon receipt of the I-20 form from Trinity, you must present the I-20, along with any other required documents, to a U.S. consulate or embassy in your home country in order to apply for a student visa. Most consulates and embassies have detailed information about this procedure on their web sites. We suggest you apply for your visa as soon as you receive your I-20, since the application process may take several weeks.
