Admission Considerations: While academic performance and rigor are the factors considered most heavily in the admissions process, we also take into account each student's standardized test scores, essay, recommendations, high school rigor, and to a slightly lesser degree, extracurricular activities. The class of 2008 had an average high school GPA (unweighted academic solids) of 3.5, and three quarters were in the top 20% of their graduating class.
Standardized Tests: Trinity accepts either the SAT I or the ACT. Neither the SAT Writing portion, SAT IIs nor the optional ACT Writing Test is required, but it will be considered by the Admissions Committee if a student submits them. Applicants for fall 2006 entrance should take their tests by January 28, 2006 for the SAT and February 11, 2006 for the ACT.
Candidates do not need to obtain a minimum score to qualify for admission. Applicants should submit all of their test results, since Trinity cross matches the highest subtest scores for both the SAT and the ACT. The middle 50% of our current first year class had SAT I scores ranging from 1220 to 1370 and ACT scores from 27 to 31.
High School Record: A student's grade point average, the rigor of their courses, class rank (when applicable), and the diversity of curriculum all are important considerations for admission. The Office of Admissions recalculates each applicant's GPA using only academic solids and a standardized, unweighted scale in order to compensate for discrepancies in grading scales among different high schools. Rigor of curriculum is evaluated separately to account for different advanced course options at various high schools. Last year's first year class had a Trinity assessed high school GPA of 3.5
All applicants are expected to have completed the following
courses in high school with a "C−" or better:
4 years English
3 years Mathematics including either trigonometry or pre-calculus
3 years Science with at least two years of laboratory science
3 years social science
2 years of one foreign language
