Patricia Simonite held the first Lennox Visiting Young Artist Position at Trinity in 1999. She joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2000, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005. Professor Simonite teaches all levels of photography. She teaches and developed the digital photography and digital art courses. Professor Simonite received the B.F.A. summa cum laude in 1984, and subsequently the M.F.A. with a concentration in photography from the University of Texas at San Antonio 1987.

Professor Simonite is actively involved in her profession and serves as Vice-President, State, for Texas Photographic Society. She will be serving as an outside reviewer for the Society for Photographic Education Portfolio Reviews at the Chicago Conference in March 2006. Her work has been published in journals including Zoom Magazine and in d’ART International and is in many public and private collections including the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center photography collection at the University of Texas in Austin.

Professor Simonite’s photographs have been exhibited in group and solo shows in Europe and throughout the United States. Recent solo shows include Pleasure Beach at The Center for Contemporary Art, Abilene, Texas, in 2005. Her work was included in the following group shows in 2005: Beauty, Women in Photography International, Los Angeles, (an international, on-line juried exhibition at http://www.womeninphotography.org,); Liminal Britain, Art Gallery, University of North Texas, Denton, Texas; The Last Great Places in Texas, Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, San Antonio, Texas; and Binary Articulations, George A. SPIVA Art Center, Joplin, Missouri; and Porter Hall Art Gallery, Pittsburgh State University, Kansas.
