Tiger All-American and NCAA Champion Todd Wildman has been named first team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Men's Track and Cross Country team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Evan Bronson Drafted by the Washington Nationals Wednesday
Trinity's Evan Bronson was drafted by the Washington Nationals with the first pick of the 29th round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday afternoon.  Bronson was also drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 36th round last summer.  Former Tiger Ryan Cavan, who played at Division I UC-Santa Barbara last season, was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the 16th round as well.

Three Tiger Student-Athletes Earn Academic Honors
Trinity had three of its cross country and track & field team members earn ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for their performance both in and out of the classroom this year.  D'Ann Arthur, Zach Brush, and Todd Wildman were selected to the teams and will be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America awards.

Trinity's Jeff Claydon has been named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team.  Claydon earned All-District honors earlier this month, making him eligible for the national award.

The Tiger doubles team of Bobby Cocanougher and Cory Kowal were beaten 6-2, 7-6 in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship on Sunday afternoon in California.

Tiger sluggers Kyle Felix and Jordan Pennington were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region teams.  Pennington earned 2nd Team honors, while Felix secured a spot on the 3rd Team.

The Trinity University Tigers team of sophomores Bobby Cocanougher and Cory Kowal upset the top-seeds Saturday in the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships tournament, and will play in the semifinals tomorrow afternoon.

Trinity University senior Todd Wildman of Dallas (Jesuit) was runner-up Saturday in the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, earning a sixth-place team finish for the Tiger men's team.

Trinity University Tigers first-year player Katy Poettcker of Colleyville, Texas (Heritage), won her first-round singles match, but lost the second Friday at the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships.

Baer and Wildman Earn All-America Honors to Open NCAA Meet

Seniors Chris Baer and Todd Wildman both earned All-America honors with their performances at the NCAA Championships in Ohio on Thursday.  Baer finished third in the javelin to earn his second All-American award in that event, while Wildman was sixth in the long jump for his fourth All-American award this year.

First-year Tiger women's tennis player Kelsie Lawson has been named to the inaugural SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.  Lawson was one of 12 players selected to the team for women's tennis.

Trinity senior women's golfer Monica Mercado has been selected to the National Golf Coaches Association All-West Region team for her performance this past year.  Mercado also earned All-SCAC honors this season.

Seven Trinity Players Earn All-SCAC Honors for 2009 Season
The Tiger softball team had seven players earn All-SCAC honors for the 2009 season, including first-years Karen MacPherson and Brittany Losey.  MacPherson was named to the All-SCAC First Team, while Losey earned a spot on the Second Team.  Five others earned honorable mention.

Katy Poettcker and Katie Griffith Win ITA Regional Awards
Tiger women's tennis standouts Katy Poettcker and Katie Griffith both received ITA West Region awards for the 2009 season.  Poettcker was named the ITA Division III West Region Player to Watch, while Griffith took the West Region Rookie of the Year honor.

McMindes Named ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year
Tiger men's tennis assistant coach Russell McMindes has been chosen as the ITA Division III West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.  McMindes, a former Tiger standout who was a member of the 2000 NCAA Championship team, is finishing off his seventh year as an assistant coach.

Noah Solomon Highlights Trinity 2009 All-SCAC Selections
Trinity sophomore Noah Solomon was named the 2009 SCAC Pitcher of the Year, highlighting six Tiger players to receive All-SCAC honors.  Evan Jones, Stosh Hoover, Kyle Felix, and Jordan Pennington joined Solomon on the All-SCAC First Team, while Evan Bronson was honorable mention All-SCAC.

Tiger All-American Max Frey has been named the SCAC Player of the Year for his performance this season, receiving five first place votes.  Bobby Cocanaugher also earned a spot on the All-SCAC team, while John Runge was Honorable Mention All-SCAC.

Softball's Karen MacPherson Named Third Team All-West Region
Tiger first-year outfielder Karen MacPherson has been named Third Team All-West Region by the NFCA.  MacPherson broke the single season record for steals in her first year, and led the team with a .402 batting average.

Trinity's Katy Poettcker and Katie Griffith were both named to the 2009 SCAC All-SCAC Women's Tennis Team, as announced by the conference on Friday.  Poettcker finished third in the voting, while Griffith was seventh.

Trinity first-year Karen MacPherson was named to the All-Tournament Team for the SCAC Championships.  MacPherson hit over .400 at the plate, and the Tigers finished tied for fourth in the tournament.
