Austin Completes DH Sweep With Solid Win Over Trinity

San Antonio - Austin College finished a doubleheader sweep of Trinity with a 9-2 win on Friday afternoon at E.M. Stevens Field.

Trinity (14-18, 5-6) fell behind 9-0 before the offense was finally able to get on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Austin College scored five runs in the second inning without getting a hit, taking advantage of six walks in the inning.  The 'Roos also added four total runs in the sixth and seventh, but all of those were unearned.

Overall, Trinity pitchers gave up 12 walks in the game - double the number of hits allowed.  The defense also committed four errors for the Tigers, totaling seven errors in two games today.

Bobby Zabor and Nick Vera collected six of Trinity's 10 hits, with each player having three in the second game.  Vera had two hits earlier today, while Zabor also had a hit in the first game.

Eric Samulski joined Zabor as the only Tiger players with extra-base hits as both players had doubles.  Samulski's double drove in a run in the eighth.

Trinity and Austin College will conclude the series with a game tomorrow at noon.  With bad weather predicted for tomorrow, please check the internet for game time changes and/or postponements.
