The Tiger baseball team won its sixth straight game
on Monday night, handing Cardinal Stritch (WI) University a 10-0
shutout.
Trinity (11-9) scored its 10 runs in the first five innings, which
included three-run innings in the fourth and fifth. The shutout
was also the second in the last four games for the Tiger pitching staff.
Evan Bronson (2-2) pitched a career game for the Tigers, tossing a
five-hit complete-game shutout. Bronson struck out a career-high
13 batters in the game, walking just two, and pitching his longest
career outing (previous high was 7.1 innings).
Bronson allowed five hits in the first five innings, then didn't allow
any hits over the final four innings, retiring the final 15 batters
consecutively.
Five Trinity players posted multi-hit games for the offense, which
pounded out 12 total hits. Bobby Zabor was 2-5 with three RBI and
one run scored, while Jeff Claydon was 2-3 with three runs.
Zach Fregosi collected his first two hits of the season, finishing 2-4
with two runs scored. Blake Holman was 2-5 with two RBI, also
hitting his seventh double of the season.
Jeremy Bays continued his hot streak, finishing 2-4 in the game and is
6-12 over the past three games. Nick Vera was 1-3 with two runs
and two RBI, as well as stealing two bases.
Trinity returns to action at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, facing off against
Doane (NE) College in an afternoon doubleheader.
