Abilene, Texas - Trinity's baseball
team lost for the second time Tuesday - and third straight time overall
- as McMurry earned a 4-2 win at Walt Driggers Field.
Similar to the day's earlier game at
Hardin-Simmons, Trinity (5-7) took the early lead with a run in the top
of the first inning, but McMurry was able to come back as well.
McMurry tied the game in the third, then took the lead for good with two
runs in the fourth. The home team capped the scoring with another
run in the fifth inning.
Michael Hunter (0-1) gave up just three
runs - only two of which were earned - on six hits in four innings,
recording four strikeouts. Britton Horn struck out five in three
innings of relief, yielding one run on two hits, and Drew Bignall
finished things off with three straight outs in the eighth inning.
Evan Jones was 1-3 with a solo homer in the
ninth inning - the first of his young career. Earlier in the day,
Jones collected his first two hits of the season.
Nick Vera homered in the first inning - his
second of the year - and Teddy Wilson was 2-4 in the game.
Trinity will travel to Division I Centenary
(LA) College this weekend for a two-game series, followed by another
road game on Tuesday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The
Tigers return home on Wednesday, March 14 against Concordia (NE)
University at 7:00 p.m.
