Trinity Takes Series Opener at Austin College

Sherman, Texas - The Tiger baseball team posted a 12-0 shutout win over Austin College on Saturday, opening a road doubleheader in SCAC play.

Trinity (20-8, 8-2) assures itself of at least a split in the four-game series with the win.  The Tigers scored eight runs in the third inning to assume control of the game, then added four more in the fourth to pull further ahead.

Tiger starter Evan Bronson (5-2) earned the victory for Trinity, pitching six shutout innings with five strikeouts before giving way to reliever Waynne Warren.  Warren finished off the win for the Tigers, striking out one batter in the final inning.

Kyle Felix went 2-4 in the game, cracking his fourth homer of the season on his way to four RBI and two runs scored.  Felix's homer came with no outs in the fourth inning, giving Trinity a 12-0 lead.

Jeff Claydon and Dillan Early scored two runs each for the Tigers, while Evan Jones scored twice and drove in two more runs.

The doubleheader continues later this afternoon, followed by the series finale tomorrow at noon.  The Tigers play at Texas Lutheran next week, and will then return home on Wednesday, April 2 against Schreiner University.
