Trinity Beats Huston-Tillotson for Sixth Straight Win

San Antonio - The Tiger baseball team won its sixth straight game on Sunday afternoon, beating Huston-Tillotson University 5-3 at E.M. Stevens Field.

Trinity (6-3) scored a run in each of the first three innings to take the lead early, then held on as Huston-Tillotson rallied in the later innings to make it a tight game.

The visitors got on the scoreboard with an unearned run in the fifth, but Trinity pushed the lead back to three (4-1) with a run of its own in the sixth.  In the seventh and eighth, Huston-Tillotson scored a pair of runs to make it a one-run game heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Trinity capped the scoring with a final run in the eighth on a pinch-hit homer to lead off the inning.  The Tigers out-hit Huston-Tillotson 10-6 in the game.

Dominick Robusto was 3-3 to lead Trinity's offense, including a solo homer off the scoreboard in left field.  Jeff Claydon and Stosh Hoover also had multi-hit games, and Claydon scored twice as well.  Jordan Pennington had the pinch-hit homer in the eighth that finished off the scoring for the day.

Brian Oates (2-1) gave up just one earned run on four hits through seven solid innings of work, striking out six batters overall.  Evan Bronson picked up his first save of the year, striking out three in the final 1.1 innings of the game.

Trinity will host Hardin-Simmons University on Tuesday afternoon, starting at 3:00 p.m.  This weekend, the Tigers will host DeSales (PA) University in a two-game weekend series that will begin Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
