Round Rock, Texas - Trinity's
baseball team continued its offensive showcase with a 14-4 win over
Concordia (TX) University on Tuesday afternoon.
Trinity (7-7) played the game at Dell
Diamond, which is the home of the Round Rock Express - a Minor League
Baseball team.
Concordia took the initial lead in the game
by scoring a pair of runs in the second inning, but Trinity quickly tied
the game with two runs in the third. After Concordia slipped in
another run in the fourth, the Tiger bats were finally awakened in the
sixth.
Trinity scored six runs in the sixth,
followed by three runs each in the seventh and eighth innings to pull
ahead of Concordia.
Stosh Hoover and Evan Jones led Trinity
with three hits each in the game, and the team hammered out 14 hits
total. Hoover was 3-5 with three runs and three RBI, while Jones
was 3-5 with two runs and two RBI in the game.
For the second straight game, Jordan
Pennington kept his hitting streak alive on his final at-bat of the day,
cracking a three-run homer in the eighth inning to extend his streak to
21 games. Pennington was 1-4 with two runs and three RBI for the
Tigers.
Kevin Jackson was 2-6 with two runs and two
RBI, while Nick Pappas scored three times. Jeff Claydon was 2-4
with one run and one RBI in the game.
Noah Solomon (1-0) earned the win for
Trinity, pitching seven full innings in relief. Solomon gave up
just two runs on six hits through the final seven innings, striking out
four and allowing just one walk.
Trinity will continue a full week of action
with a Thursday night game at home against DeSales University. The
Tigers will then open up a two-game SCAC series at Southwestern on
Saturday, followed by the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
