The Trinity University Equestrian Team was founded in 1999 by
a group of avid equestrians who wanted to include horseback riding to
Trinity's list of wonderful clubs. The team today is still fairly small, but
is flourishing as more and more people express interest in joining the team.
There are no tryouts to join the team, there are no club dues to pay, and
members are not expected to compete in all the shows. Members are expected to remain active in the club by
participating in club activities, fundraisers, and by representing the team at
the shows Trinity hosts.
No previous experience is required to join the team. Current
members range from beginners (no riding experience whatsoever) to people who
ride on "A" show circuits. The team rides and competes primarily in
hunt seat equitation events both on the flat and over fences. In the hunter
classes, the riders are judged solely on their form and abilities. If
there is enough interest, the team might branch out into riding in western
classes at shows as well.
