Host 'em and Roast 'em; Trinity dominates at home.
Trinity Alamo Classic San Antonio, Texas--February 23, 2002
The Trinity Club team absolutely DOMINATED the other teams at the Alamo Classic over the weekend. The Tigers entered the tournament ranked #1(based on the SIVA Conference rankings) and proved how true it was.
While "Lank" Hoffheiser and "Reese" Borsuk lay sprawled out in various parts of the gym, passed out having not gotten enough sleep the night before, the rest of the team went to work on the visiting squads.
The Tigers dominant middle Erik Heim put the hurt to Tiger opponents with wicked tips to 4 all day long. Catlike reflexes and speed were displayed by the other Tiger middle "Gigantor" Quilici. Said coach Bachman of Quilici, "I was amazed. For a big guy he was really playing some great low defense. He gets on the floor more than any other player on the team, except maybe Lank and Reese because they are passed out on the floor over there."
All of the Trinity outsides and right sides had excellent tournaments. Playing in front of the largest home crowd in club history, the big hitters put on a show. Even the Tiger bench got into the act with great play coming off the pine. Said Sr. Outside Jeff Conrad, "All the hitters had a purse sale this week on campus to raise some money for Nationals. Everybody sold their [purse] so we were ready to hit."
The Tigers beat Texas Tech I in the Semi Finals 16-25; 25-17; 15-13 and SAVBA Mix in the Finals 25-15; 27-25
