Head Coach Jenny Breuer

Jenny Breuer enters her ninth season as the Tiger head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach in 2008.

The Tiger women’s team has advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships three of the past four years. Trinity placed No. 21 at the 2007 NCAA meet, its best-ever finish at nationals. The Tigers won the 2004 NCAA regional event and were runners-up in 2006 and 2007. Trinity’s men were ninth-place finishers at the 2007 regional and finished sixth the previous year.

Senior D’Ann Arthur won the regional meet in the fall, the first Tiger to capture the title. She was named Regional Runner of the Year.

In the 2007 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference events, senior Emily Loeffler became the first Tiger female to win the SCAC Championship. Loeffler was named SCAC Female Cross Country Track and Field Athlete of the Year. The Tiger women placed third and the men were fifth. Trinity’s women were runners-up in three times and finished third in 2006. Trinity’s men have finished as high as No. 2 on three occasions.

Coach Breuer will now devote her coaching duties to the cross country program.

But, she also had a highly successful eight-season career as Trinity’s head men’s and women’s track and field coach.

Trinity’s men won the SCAC title for the second straight time and third overall. The Tiger women have taken the SCAC crown for four of the last six years. Coach Breuer was named the 2008 SCAC Track and Field Men’s Coach of the Year for the third time. After the 2007 campaign, she became the first coach in the SCAC era to be named Women’s Coach of the Year four times.

Coach Breuer was also named the 2007 South Region Women’s Coach of the Year – for the second consecutive time – by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Three men and women earned All-America honors at the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

A major highlight of Coach Breuer’s career is Christyn Schumann, who won four NCAA Women’s High Jump Championships. Schumann captured the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Outdoor Championships and the 2005 Indoor title.

Coach Breuer, who attended Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, N.C., was an All-American cross country performer and a two-time Academic All-American. She later was a graduate assistant coach at the University of Tennessee before becoming the head men’s and women’s and cross country and track and field coach at Hanover College (Ill.). Coach Breuer was also an assistant at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

She continues to compete in San Antonio-area races.
