– The Trinity
Tigers women’s cross country team won the TLU Invitational Saturday
at Texas Lutheran University.
Trinity scored
30 points and beat UT-Permian Basin, Texas A&M International and
Concordia (Texas).
Tiger junior
Caitlin Masse won an individual title for the second straight week –
at Texas Lutheran – clocking in at 22:21.6 on the 6k course. Masse
captured last week’s Texas DIII Championship.
Senior Jasmine
Martin placed eighth (25:05.9) and sophomore Jordan Hanson was 13th
(25:56.1). Junior Jenna Price finished in 14th place
(26:05.4).
The men’s race
was rained out, but the Tiger men returned to the Trinity campus to
run an 8K time trial on the E.M. Stevens Stadium track.
Senior Chass
Armstrong had the best time, at 25:05, followed by senior Bryant
Wright, with a 25:16. Junior Zach Brush posted a time of 25:55 in
third place, and junior Adam Cribb was fourth at 26:27. Sophomore
Robert Edmonds was fifth (26:38), first-year runner Sal Perdomo
placed sixth (26:50), first-year Pancho Escobedo was seventh (26:58)
and first-year Mark Greene was eighth (28:26). Sophomore Eric
Elliott had the ninth-best time (28:35), first-year Kevin Gaughan
was 10th (29:36) and senior Mike Warner placed 11th
(30:52).
Trinity will
compete on Oct. 17 at the University of Arkansas Chili Pepper
Invitational at Fayetteville.
