Masse Highlights Tiger Teams at Chile Pepper Invitational

 

Fayetteville, Arkansas Trinity University Tigers junior women’s runner Caitlin Masse had an excellent showing Saturday at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival.

Masse placed 35th – in a field of 267 runners, largely from Division I and Division II – with a time of 22:01.93 in the 6,000 meters. She registered the second-best 6k time in Trinity women’s history, replacing D’Ann Arthur’s mark of 22:02 at the 2008 Division III Championships. The Tiger record-holder is Emily Loeffler, who ran the NCAA meet in 21:31.

Trinity’s men placed 15th of 29 teams in the 10,000 meters race. Senior Chass Armstrong finished 58th of 243 runners, clocking in at 31:37.19. Bryant Wright, also a senior, finished at No. 67, with a time of 31:47.01. Junior Zach Brush was 89th, at 32:30.39.

The Tigers will compete Oct. 31 at the SCAC Championships at Conyers, Ga.

Caitlin Masse finished 35th in her personal best time, which was also the second-best time in Trinity history for a 6K race
