Two Trinity Runners Receive SCAC Weekly Honors

San Antonio Two members of the Trinity University Tigers cross country teams have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Runners of the Week.

Senior Bryant Wright earned the men’s recognition and junior Caitlin Masse was named the women’s runner of the week.

Wright, from Tulsa, Okla., won the men’s Texas DIII Championship last weekend at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. He ran the 8k race in 26:08 and picked up his first collegiate victory. The Tigers captured the team title, their first Texas DIII win in four years. Wright’s performance also placed him on the list of top 8k times for the SCAC this season.

Masse, from Katy, Texas, took the women’s Texas DIII title with a time of 23:09 on the 6k course. She clocked in over 50 seconds faster than the nearest competitor, while getting her first collegiate win. The Tigers placed third as a team at the event.

Trinity, led by head coach Jenny Breuer, returns to Seguin next Saturday for the TLU Bulldog Invitational.

Wright and Masse each won the Texas DIII Championship meet last weekend in Seguin; Wright won his second career SCAC Runner of the Week award, while Masse won the first of her career
