Irving, Texas -
Former Trinity football and track & field standout Jerheme Urban has been signed to the
practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League.
Urban, who spent the last three
seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, enjoyed his best games playing
against the Cowboys. In 2004, he scored a go-ahead touchdown late
in the game in a wild 43-39 loss against Dallas, and last year, he
caught three passes for 57 yards in Seattle's 13-10 win.
Urban tied the Trinity record
with 35 career receiving touchdowns, broke the school record for points
scored and total touchdowns scored, and also holds the school record for
most kickoff return yards in a career. He also holds the single
season record with 17 touchdown receptions in 2002, broke the school's
scoring record in 2002, and continues to hold the record with 611
kickoff return yards that year. Maybe his most impressive record
is his 19 total touchdowns scored that year, breaking a record that had
stood for nearly 30 years previously.
In addition to setting numerous
school records in football, Urban was also a four-time SCAC Male Track &
Field Athlete of the Year. He still holds the school record in the
100 meter dash, the 400 meter dash, the 400 meter hurdles, the long
jump, and the triple jump. He was also a member of the
record-breaking 1,600 meter relay team. |
