MIKE BACSIK | Baseball | B.S., Business Administration 1975


Earned All-America honors in ’73.

Had a pitching record of 23-11 for the Tigers from ’71-’73, with a 2.45 earned run average (fourth-best in school history). The 23 wins are sixth-best in Tiger history.

Key member of ’72 team which advanced to NCAA District VI playoffs. Trinity amassed a record of 32-6 during regular season, winning its final 22 games. Ranked No. 16 nationally by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Outstanding 10-1 record in ’72 and was 10-4 in ’73. His 10 wins in ’72 and ’73 are third-best in Trinity single-season history. The only Trinity player to record 10 or more victories twice in a career.

His 104 strikeouts in ’73 are third-best in Tiger single-season records.

Pitched five years for the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins in Major League Baseball, from ’75-’80.

Amassed a career Major League record of 8-6, with 4.43 ERA. Pitched a 4-2 record for the Twins in ’79 and was 3-2 for the Rangers in ’76.

His son, Michael, also pitched in the Major Leagues, including the New York Mets, Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies.
