EMILIE BURRER FOSTER, Tennis
B.S., Physical Education, 1969

Player
The only Trinity player to win four national championships - the USTA College Singles and Doubles crowns in 1968 and 1969.  Trinity won USTA Collegiate Team Championships in 1968 and 1969.  After graduation, ranked 13th player in the nation in singles and fourth in doubles; member of U.S. Pan American Games team, 1967; reached quarterfinals of 1969 U.S. Open; played for Houston E-Z Riders of World TeamTennis in 1974.

Coach
Coached NCAA Division I Tigers from 1979 to 1990, and teams amassed a record of 259-94.  The Tigers finished as national runner-up twice and took third place five times.  Coached 10 All-Americans, including 1983 NCAA Doubles champions Gretchen Rush Magers and Louise Allen.  Named the 1983 NCAA Division I Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association. Also received USTA Education Merit Award.  Inducted into the Women's College Tennis Hall of Fame, 2000.

Now a biomechanist for the Palestra Rehabilitation and Sport Training Center in San Antonio.
