Trinity Men's Basketball @ Southwestern

The Tiger men’s basketball team won its only game of the week, defeating Southwestern 75-73 on the road on Friday night and extending the team’s winning streak to 11 games.

Luke Caldarera led Trinity with 22 points and eight rebounds, connecting on 7-12 from the field and 8-10 from the line.  He hit 7-8 free throws in the final minute to help clinch the narrow victory.

B.J. Moon added 12 points, while Dwight Lutz and Nick Polidoroff came off the bench with 10 points each in the win.  Charles Houston had a solid all-around game with six points, seven boards, and five steals for the Tigers.

The win was the eighth in a row against Southwestern, as well as the 12th in the last 13 games for Trinity.  Since the 1998-99 season, this was also the 18th time in 23 games that the final margin of victory was under 10 points.  The last two games in Georgetown have been decided by a total of three points.

Houston is on the verge of scoring his 700th career point, needing just six more to reach the milestone.  Moon is 52 points from reaching 800 and is the team's active leader in career scoring.

Moon passed Jonathan McNulty (1992-96) on the all-time three-pointers scored list, moving into eighth place in Trinity history.  He needs seven more to tie for seventh with Mike Cleary (1995-99).

Trinity will be on the road again this weekend, continuing SCAC play at Birmingham-Southern and Rhodes.  Last season, Birmingham-Southern defeated Trinity 58-54 in San Antonio, and Patrick Robinson was the only Tiger player in double figures for the game.
