Trinity had its 15-game
winning streak snapped by DePauw on Friday night, losing a 54-61 game.
DePauw and Trinity have alternated wins in this series over the last
two-plus seasons.
Patrick Robinson led
Trinity with 12 points in last night's game, while B.J. Moon and Luke
Caldarera finished with 10 points each. Charles Houston pulled
down nine rebounds, while Caldarera added eight of his own.
With those nine boards,
Houston now stands just eight rebounds away from reaching 500 in his
career. He would be the 11th player in school history to reach the
milestone.
Nick Polidoroff and
Jonathan Lewis are also on the verge of reaching landmark numbers in
career rebounds, and both will likely reach those tonight against
Centre. Polidoroff needs just two boards to reach 300 in his
career, while Lewis is just one away from 200 career rebounds.
Two more steals on
Friday night gives Houston 54 this season - putting him third at Trinity
for a single season. Jonathan McNulty finished with 56 in 1993-94
and Houston is the single season record-holder with 57 during the
2006-07 season. He remains 12 away from tying the career record
set by Jason Morris from 2001-05.
B.J. Moon now stands
alone in seventh place in career three-pointers made, breaking a tie
with Mike Cleary (1995-99) with two threes last night at DePauw.
Moon needs 23 more to move into sixth on the career list at Trinity.
Patrick Robinson pulled
even with Mike Mataya (1996-2000) in career three-point field goals,
needing six more to become the 13th player in school history to hit 100
or more in a career.
Moon and Houston are
also closing in on 800 career points, and are nearing the top 25 in
school history for a career. Moon needs 13 more to reach 800,
while Houston is next on the active list with 739 career points.
Last year against
Centre, the Tigers missed a shot at the buzzer that forced an overtime
in which Centre outscored Trinity 11-2 to take the 78-69 win. That loss
was Trinity’s first loss at home to Centre since the 1992-93 season. In
the SCAC Semifinals, the Tigers were beaten 70-57 by Centre. |
