The Tiger men's basketball team scored a 64-45 win over Austin College
on Sunday afternoon, evening the team's overall and conference record.
Trinity (7-7, 2-2) had a 32-20 lead at the half,
finishing the period with a 15-4 run over the final 4:07, and then led
by as many as 21 points in the second. The Tigers shot better than
50% from the field in the first half, then hit nearly 43% in the second.
The defense held the Kangaroos to less than 28% shooting in both
periods, and just 4-20 three-pointers in the game.
Mike Gilb and Barrett Koch both scored 11 points
to lead the Tigers, while Patrick Robinson came off the bench with 10
points on 3-5 shooting. Charles Houston added six points and a
team-best four rebounds, as well as a team-high four steals.
Brandon York scored eight points, while Gilb and
B.J. Moon both grabbed five boards. Moon also led the team with
four assists, while Al Furlow recorded three steals in 13 minutes.
Mark Foster led Austin College with 10 points in
the game, while Parker Hammons finished with a game-high seven rebounds.
Trinity returns home on Saturday to face
Southwestern University in continued SCAC action. The Tigers will
tip off at approximately 8:00 p.m., following the women's game.
